Drainpipe connection to water butt

Post by johnh » Thu May 17, 2007 6:46 pm

I have a metal drainpipe and a large plastic water butt. Is it possible to connect the two so that my gutters' rainwater can be fed into the water butt? I know that plastic downspouts and plastic water butts can be connected, but the search for a connector to feed from the metal downspout to a plastic water butt is proving fruitless.

Never actually done this job John but it seems that, even with a plastic diverter, you need to cut the down pipe to install. If this is the case would it not be worth changing the down pipe to plastic.
