drill big hole (3") into metal lintel

Hi there,
I'm trying to build a pipe system for the kitchen fan extractor, and the only way out from the kitchen seems to be through the metal lintel on top of the kitchen window.

The pipe is about 3 inches in diameter.

Is it crazy to try and drill a hole that big through the lintel?

Unfortunately there are already other pipes at the side of the lintel, so there is no other "free" path to the outside world.
