    Duh I didn't use primer/undercoat

    Postby ohdear » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:55 pm

I mixed up paint tins and instead of applying a primer/undercoat first I have applied satinwood wood and metal paint directly to dark green bathroom-quality hardboard. The bathroom doesn't get condensation.
What's the worst that can happen?
Should I put primer/undercoat on top of the satinwood or just do a final coat of satinwood?

Hi! You should not be worrying about it, satinwood used to be self undercoating, just do another 2 coats on top.

Hi thanks, that's reassuring. I'll sand it down and give it a couple more coats.

Satinwood is basicly 75% undercoat yes but a primer is still needed, But would be like going for a bath and trying to wash yourself with your clothes on priming after coating. There is nothing you can do now but i would expect it to flake in time.
