earth & cirucit cable screwed to floorboard? Is this cor

I have just lifted some floorboards in bathroom when replacing sink unit. I noticed a green earth cable running between joists but the cable does not connect to any of the bathroom pipework or metalwork so I assume I need an electrician to sort this out. What concerns me more, is that I tried to trace the route of the earth cable & find it runs to the service cable at the consumer unit but the end in the bathroom is screwed to the underside of the bathroom floorboard along with the end of a 2.5mm twin core & the earth cable. I cannot work out where the other end of the twin core & earth goes to without liting the bedroom floorboards. Does this mean I have a live cable attached to the underside of my bathroom floor? Obviously Im not an electrician but this doesn't seem right to me & I can't find ant relevant advice on web.[/b]

PROF MORIARTY
WHEN U SAY THAT THE EARTH CABLE AND 2.5MM2 IS
SCREWED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FLOOR BOARD
OBVIOUSLY U MEAN THE CABLES R PIERCED.
U NEED TO GET IN AN ELECTRICIAN 2 CHECK IF THE
CABLES R LIVE OR NOT !
LIFTING A BEDROOM FLOOR BOARD ( IF U COULD )
WOULD GIVE U FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO
WHETHER THE 2.5 MM2 WAS CURRENTLY IN SERVICE.

Not exactly pierced - it is the bare end of each cable that is screwed to the floorboard - the earth cable (it is rather old cable) goes to consumer unit & the other end is screwed to floorboard: the 2.5mm is newer cable (perhaps 1980s) one end is screwed to floorboard & I can't see where other end goes. I just can't work out why these cables would just end with bare wires screwed to floorboard.....in a bathroom..... The cables have been screwed to floorboard from underneath so it seems intentional that they were screwed there.
I will be contacting an electrician asap but worried that this could indicate that all my wiring is dangerous.
