elecric sockets in an open plan bedroom / ensuite

by andrewkay9 » Wed Oct 22, 2008 6:25 pm

Can I use sockets in the bedroom where there is also an open plan ensuite. If so what is the minimum distance I am allowed to have sockets on a normal ring main, purely for in the bedroom side.

The rules have changed under 17th edition now 3m horizontally beyond the boundary of zone 1. But now bedroom with a shower is classed as a bathroom. What I am not sure on is Part P and if the bedroom is also becomes a bathroom under those regulations. There is a link in projects section you can make your own mind up.
The old regulations allowed a socket slightly closer all sockets now to be RCD protected. Under the old regulations there was a special bit to cover showers in a bedroom now that has gone and sockets are permitted in a bathroom under 3m rule but most bathrooms are not that big anyway so it really replaces bedroom rules.
If the sides of the shower are 2.25m high or higher these become the limit.
