Electric wall switch

by macm » Thu Dec 10, 2009 10:52 pm

I am moving a light switch that is at present on a plasterboard wall to a location adjacent to a timber door frame. Is this an issue, ie. is there a distance that the switch requires to be from any timber?

Years ago all switches were round and mounted on little squares of wood. Also backs of consumer units were made of wood. Although the latter is no longer allowed there is really no problem with wood and electric assuming you use a proprietary back box.
