Electricity Meter

by moselinf » Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:31 am

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of the logistics and cost of moving an electricty meter and consumer unit. I'm planning to demolish the internal wall which currents sites both meter and unit, and want to move them to an adjacent external wall.

Last one I did caused problems as first a new consumer unit was placed in the new position and some wiring wired to new unit then the supply authority were informed and they gave date for move. Frantic phone call from customer it had been moved a week early and I was in middle of another job which resulted in a very late night before enough circuits were moved to keep essentials working until I was able to return to finish off the work.
Easy with empty house not so easy when still in resident.
I would say bigger electrical firm the better as the bigger they are then most able to juggle their staff to make someone free when required.
All best Eric
