Estimating above ground MDPE blue pipe insulation for UV damage protection

by gibby69 » Mon Jul 01, 2013 10:01 pm

I've been asked to estimate the insulation of above ground mdpe (blue) pipe. It's to protect against UV damage, and has to follow the byelaws (Scotland). Information I requested from scottish water was just basic leaflets. Any ideas what type/thickness of insulation I should be looking for.

Thanks.

Black Polyethylene pipes should be used for above ground potable water supplies, so it doesn't meet regulations to start with.

Have a look at:

unfortunately not Scotland but should be a good start.
