extending the patio

i want to extend my patio so i will have to dig out about a metre of my lawn which is about 10 inches higher than the excisting patio.....no problem but what do i do with the edge of the lawn where iv dug out as it sits about 8in higher after the slabs been laid hope this makes sense

before there was a wall at the end of the patio which i no longer want eventaully i will be putting decking down onto the slabs but for the time being does any one know a way for me to do this

Dig a small trench at the end of the new patio 200mm wide and 150mm deep and fill it with concrete mixed as shown in our mixing concrete project. Then lay 3 courses of matching bricks as a small retaining wall.
