extractor cooker hood

by tsb » Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:10 am

is it ok to have a socket hidden behind the chimney part of a cooker extractor,in which the extractor is plugged into it or does it have to be on the outside of the chimney. The chimney part is removeable for access to the plug in order to isolate the extractor and the socket doesn't interfere with any of the tubing to outside.I've been told it might need a seperate FCU to it,on the outside of the chimney, but this would ruin the look .

I have just finished the wiring for my new kitchen and have a connector behind the chimney for the cooker hood wired to an above worktop fcu below the hood, to the side of the hob. This looks neat, all the cabling is within the wall and the arrangement was fine with the man from building control who inspected it last week.
