Faulty CH control box

by parkejr » Sat Feb 16, 2008 9:37 am

Hi,

I have a Lifestyle LP241 control box, and a Sunvic SD2701 motorised valve

In the last couple of weeks when the HW is set to come on, the HW side of the controller lights up, but the CH gets hot. CH also appears to work normally on the CH side of the controller.

I've done a few tests:

Took the actuator off the top of the valve - valve stem is not stuck, very easy to move - actuator does not move to HW position when HW comes on.
When entire system is powered down, actuator returns to HW position.

I've read up on the valve, and it should spring return to HW only when not powered, but it only does this when I kill the power to the control box. Once the control box is powered, the actuator moves to CH.

I've tested the wiring:
WGOB
box powered, system off: 0100
CH only; 1110
HW only 1-10 - gray wire is intermittently on and off
CH+HW 1-10 - above.

My question is, is the box sending faulty signals to the actuator? or is it something in the actuator short circuiting?

Thanks,

Jeff.
