filing an old round air vent ready for skimming

Post by mark.grieve » Sat Nov 24, 2007 9:09 pm

i am skimming the kitchen walls but have a fairly large hole which was used as an air vent. I do not need the vent and want to fill the hole before skimming the wall. What is the best way of filing the hole?

If the hole isnt to big you can get something to stuff in there like wool insualtion, a empty bag of plaster or some bricks leaving about a 200mm gap to fill, then you will need to use bonding to build the gap out before you skim. If the hole is very large then you will need to fix some battons to the hole and screw a plasterboard to it.

You will need to use bicks to fill the outside and then render it.
