Filling hairline cracks in roughcast prior to painting.

by davidss » Sat May 19, 2007 10:08 am

I am intending to repaint the exterior wetcast walls of my house. Since last painting, some fine cracks in the roughcast have come through the paint surface. (had simply tried painting over these cracks last time I painted the walls). Can anyone suggest how I should fill these very fine cracks prior to painting?

We use the filler in the link below David but prefer to open up the cracks a little using a screwdriver or similar so we know for sure we have actually forced filler into them. This filler can be applied with a sponge and worked intoi the hairline cracks if you like but as I said, for best results its usually best to open the cracks a little and be sure of a good fill.
