Filling in window sills

Post by lynda » Thu May 01, 2008 4:40 pm

Please could someone offer advice on how to fill in between the windows and sills (interior) The windows are PVC and the guy who had the house before us has used sealant on everything.

It is an old Victorian house and we think the sills which have moulded edges have been added.

There are gaps between the windows and sills, the sealant he has used is shrinking.

I have tried wood filler, but that too seems to shrink or crack, I am at a loss at how to get a smooth finish. :(

Many thanks

Lynda

L,

USE SILICONE SEALER THE SAME COLOUR AS YOUR DECOR.
(CLEAN FINISH)

OR

USE UPVC FILLER/COVER STRIPS SAME COLOUR AS WINDOW FRAMES SILICONED IN PLACE.
(NOTICEABLE BUT TIDY)

Thanks Alda

I think I'll go with the silicone, I reckon it's a case of taking time and trouble. The house is an old lady and needs TLC!

L,

IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAINT THE SILLS, DO THAT FIRST AND THEN SEAL GAP WITH SILICONE AND SMOOTH OVER WITH WET FINGER TIP.
