Hi,
I have an old cast iron fireplace mantel that I would like to fit to a fireplace but the screw lugs are missing.
Any suggestions appreciated on how to best attach the mantel to the wall.
Thanks

Fitting a cast iron fireplace mantel with no lugs?
Hi Stoneyboy,
The cast iron mantel is all one piece with an insert behind it if you Google "victorianfires.co.uk" and search for "fitting a fireplace" and then "cast iron insert with cast iron mantel" I think the lugs are usually on the side of the legs of the mantel but the one I have is missing them. Thanks
If youre worried that the surround wont hold it or seal it then drill some holes thru the mantel sides and plug/screw it.

joelgro,
If you particularly want lugs get hold of a couple of heavy duty mirror plates, fix these to the rear edge of the fire surroung sides by drilling, tapping and screwing in place. STG's suggestion is easier.
