Fitting mixer tap to bath

by gatoblanco » Wed Oct 31, 2007 10:22 pm

I need to fit a mixer tap to an acrylic bath. Any tips on drilling the hole! There is no template with the tap but the hole would have to be about 20mm. Should I use a specific type of hole cutter or drill bit?

1st thing, masking tape over area to be drilled.2nd thing, get a good hole saw set,3rd thing, a variable speed drill.4th thing, measure your area twice to make sure your ok.5th thing, dont let the pilot bit on the hole saw extend to far past the teeth of the hole saw,cos when your pilot bit goes thru you dont want hole saw to slam into the top of the bath. And finally take you time, start your drill slowly to establish your pilot and then you can
increase the speed for your hole saw. Good Luck[patience is a virtue]

One point worth mentioning here, if you intend to tile the wall behind the taps after the bath is fitted, make sure your holes leave sufficient clearance for the taps to be turned on and off without fouling the tiles.
