Fixing Blinds - Lath And Plaster Ceiling

Post by GABBY71 » Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:49 pm

Hiya

I have recently moved to a new rented house and bought blinds to fit my bay window - I had to buy 3 separate blinds to fit the bay which has UPVC windows.
My dad came to fit the blinds but found out the ceiling is lath and plaster, the ceiling just started to crumble as he began to drill.
So, I am now left with an unsightly hole in the ceiling lol! and have no idea how to fit the blinds!
I'm wondering if I could fix a wooden batton to the ceiling with no more nails and use this to secure the fittings.
Any help or tips much appreciated - I'm desperate now!

thanks

use a cordless drill with a small bit and drill slowly, drill holes along in a line untill you hit the beam then fix a 2x1 batten to the ceiling the batten will hide the holes.
Then attach the blind to the batten
