Fixing foldaway table to uneven surface

    Postby kleintje » Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:32 pm

    Hi all,

I want to attach this simple wall mounted table to my wall:
    Google "ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30180504"

The wall is plaster covered brick (external wall). The table is 74 cm wide and I want it to fit in the space between two balcony doors like this (just a random example, this is not my actual house!):
    (GOOGLE "google.com/imgres?q=double+balcony+doors&hl=en&safe=off&biw=1254&bih=635&tbm=isch&tbnid=OW4UKlMA0I6vyM:&imgrefurl=http://www.simonjmitchell.co.uk/%3Fattachment_id%3D178&docid=grgQAuVU99mBNM&w=720&h=540&ei=dZd3TqH0DcaA-waCx5WsDA&zoom=1")

However, the wall space is only about 63cm, which means that there's a good 5cm overhang of table onto the wooden frames on either side of the wall space. Is it an option to attach a wooden baton in the wall space to make the surface even and then attach the table to this/wooden frames? If so, any suggestion about which fittings I should use for both baton and table?

The table will be use as a dining table to it will need to be secure.

Many thanks in advance for any help!
