Fixing kitchen cabinets to metal stud walls

by radman » Fri Oct 05, 2007 5:10 pm

I have a new house and the stud walls appear to be constructed with C shaped metal studs rather than wood. Is it OK to drill through these to anchor battens to the studs using cavity fixings.

Normally I would screw into the wooden studs but obviously can't with metal.

I need to hang some extra kitchen cabinets to take a heavy load.

Hi radman,
You can buy screws that are for Screwing into Dry-Lined metal stud work, go to your local builders merchants or ring them. They should be able to help you they are normally black in colour and come in various lengths.
Good Luck
