Fixing upstands to a tiled kitchen surface

by mapartridge » Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:30 am

Having replaced some kitchen work surfaces I am now trying to fix upstands to the tiled surface to finish the job. The lengths are slightly bowed so do not mate perfectly. I have used a number of No Nails products, but they do not seem to be man enough for the job. Is there any preparation or special glue anyone can recommend?

As long as both surfaces are very clean you can use contact adhesive. See our project on Adhesives used at home. Spread it thinly on both surface and leave till dry (10mins) Then push together. Get it right though as you only get one go !!

You will need to seal joints with wall and worktop with sealant as contact adhesive makes no claims on being 100% waterproof.
