    Flat packed furniture

    Postby westburn » Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:22 pm

I am assembling flat packed sideboard. I am having a problem inserting nylon bolts into the pre-made holes. Should I hammer them in?

Probably. Have a CLOSE look at the shanks. It may look as if they have a thread, but some IKEA flat packs have a nylon "bolt" with ribs on the shank that look like a thread until you notice that it's actually a set of concentric flanges rather than a helical thread. If that's the case, then knock them in with a hammer or (preferably) a small mallet
