flooring

by old sailor » Sun Jan 09, 2011 4:36 pm

I have ahouse which is 13 years old, some of the floors squeak upstairs. I do not know what type of floor it is and it is covered in carpet. How do I find out what sort of floor it is? How do I find where the joists are? Is there any method to secure the floors through the carpet?

old sailor,
"How do I find out what sort of floor it is" Lift up the carpet and underlay and have a look.
"How do I find where the joists are" Should be a line of nails along joist.
"Is there any method to secure the floors through the carpet" NO, unfortunately not.
end
