    Front Step Problem

    Postby gwenn » Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:12 pm

Our front door step was built in line with our damp proof course we now have black mould growing up inside wall at the door. Should we get the step lowered and by how much?
    Thanks for any advice given.

IF THE STEP IS AT THE ROOT OF THE MOULD PROBLEM THEN, YES HAVE THE STEP LOWERED BY TWO BRICK COURSES.

MOULD GROWTH AT THE FRONT DOOR REVEAL IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IS NOT ONLY CAUSED BY PENERTRATING DAMP.

IT COULD BE A CONDENSATION PROBLEM!

YOU COULD TRY THE TEST WHICH I HAVE POSTED BEFORE.

CHECK OUT MY POSTS ON DAMP AND CONDENSATION FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CARRY OUT TEST.

    REGARDS,

    ALDA.
