Turned on my washing machine last night and water started to come back up through my shower and hand basin.
The house has been empty for a few days with no heating on as I don't have central heating. While I was away from the flat there has been a bad cold spell with temps as low as -15 overnight.
Looking outside there seems to be a lot of ice surrounding the pipe and overflow so i'm guessing that might be the cause but it's hard to tell as my flat is a 3rd storey flat so I can't get up to see it.
If this is the cause is there any way of unblocking/unfreezing it with chemicals etc I'm about to lose my job in January so have little chance of affording a plumbers bill right now.
Any suggestions please
