garage extension

Hi,
We have a garage (over 20 years old) that sits 1.5 meters from the pavement

I want to extend it by 0.5 mtre closer to the path.

This garage would not have got or had planning permission when it was built by the previous occupants over 20 years ago.

I still am reluctant to approach the planners in case of complications.

Would there be a problem with my plan?
Getting a car that is longer is the reason.
