Garage supply

by lee_mel » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:42 pm

Hi,
I am looking to run a new supply from my consumer unit to a new built domestic garage. The distance from the house CU to the garage is approx 40 metres allowing for bends and turns. What size cable should I run to the garage from the existing house CU and what is the max distance I can run with any given cable (incase I decide to re-route my cable another way)? I am thinking of a 40Amp MCB as the supply to the new garage from my CU so if this is ok can you tell me?. Any other suggestion, hints, ideas all very much appreciated and welcomed.
Many thanks.

Hi, if you are a part'p' registered leckie you will know the answer if not then you cannot DIY without notifying L. A. Bldg. cont. first & paying fee.
assuming one of the above then cable size will depend upon expected max. load in garage as well as distance, type of cable being used and method of installation ie buried SWA, or 'clipped direct' pvc/pvc twin/E,
more info. reqd. Pls. SPARX
