    Garage wall blockwork, single/double thickness?

    Postby twinturbo » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:05 pm

I am looking at replacing a garage at a new property.

I have looked at Prefabs and they are ok but a bit restrictve.

So I am looking at having a blockwork structure.

What's the cheapest way to do this, can 100mm width blocks be used single width up to approx 2m or would it need to be double thickness?

what depth of foundations would be required.

and what is the avarage cost m2 for blockwork ( labour/materials ) I am in Cumbria.

    Ta

yes you can use 100mm blocks. But use must install piers at every 10feet
or so ,depending on the size of the garage.
Double thickness on the door jambs.
use a reinforced concrete slab for the foundation 200mm thick.
    cost
I dont know your better off getting a quote
