gas and venting

I hope someone can advise me, i have gas central heating and the boilers are NOT in the house, i also have a gas hob which of course is in the kitchen.
I have two air vents in the kitchen, one near the floor and one at window height, they let a lot of cold air into the kitchen. Do i need them? The actual holes measure 4 inches x 3 inches and the kitchen is very large.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Deborah,

If you only have a standard domestic gas hob and your kitchen area is more than 5 cubic meters, then no purpose made ventilation is required.

thank you for your response, can i just check something with you, i live in spain and my gas is delivered by tanker, not sure if it is butane or propane gas :roll: does the type of gas make any difference to ventilation.
