Gasmeter was outside now in garage after extensionOK or not?

    Postby prentro01 » Tue Sep 21, 2010 2:11 pm

After an extension my gas meter is in now in my garage is this allowed?
It was outside and council signed off building after extension. It has been like this for ten years but man came to change meter and would not touch it.
    Tks

    prentro01,
It probably was OK at one time but the gas man answered your question.

If your gas supply to the meter is by plastic pipe, very likely as it was outside, then the instalation does not now meet current regulations.
The plastic supply pipe must not be inside a building due to it not meeting the fire resistance regulations.
The cost of re-piping the supply form outside to your meter in steel pipe or moving the meter to the outside will be down to you I am afraid.
