Grease-like stains coming through paintwork

moved into a house and have a strange grease-like stain on the wall that seems to come through the paint. Is there anything that could be painted over it before the paint to prevent it showing through?!

I bought some thompsons damp seal that got rid of damp stains and it does cover up other stains as well b4 painting.
