Halogen light exploded

by tallulah » Tue Mar 01, 2011 10:19 am

Hi,
I moved into a new house in Oct which has a loft conversion which was converted by the previous owner whio I believe fitted all the electrics up there too.
Last night a halogen spotlight in the loft blew but didn't just pop it actually exploded and sprayed slithers of glass everywhere. Luckily my son was downstairs at the time!

Im too scared to use the lights up there now. What could the fault be? is it serious??? or could it just be a fault with the bulb???

This does happen with quartz halogen from time to time which is why it is a requirement for them to be covered in with glass. The cover in your case must have been missing.
