Help needed for stone driveway !

    Postby yvette8241 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 8:03 pm

Can anyone help me please, im just laying a new driveway over existing old flags which for 20 years have seemed sound, until my extension and skips cracked them !!!! I have lifted up all the old flags and am now down to the sandy base. I was going to lay some MOT, compact with a 2 ton vibrating roller and then cover with 3-10mm red granite chippings, then roller again.
My question is where does the weed menbrane go ? I gather before the mot and do you think it will be ok ie not too much surface movement. I have a motorhome and it is vital i get this right, any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks Yvette.

When I laid my drive (albeit with a flagstone top course) I put the weed control fabric below the hardcore before it was compacted.
