Help please, my kitchen door handle is broken and loosely turning. This is after locking it. I have tried to remove the screws , but this hasnt helped. Any ideas?

if you can remove the handle and the spindle,( the square metal bar), then stick a flat type screwdriver in the square hole and turn it, it should open the door. I suspect the square bar has been cut short and has moved out of position
