Hot Light Fitting

by revolver9 » Fri Oct 01, 2010 2:08 pm

I recently replaced a ceiling light fitting with an IKEA lighting track with 3 spotlights. Based on advice I got online, I'm certain that I've wired it correctly, i.e. 3 red cables connected to a WAGO terminator, black switch cable to live, 2 other black cables to neutral, earth to earth.

It all seems fine and the lights work ok but the metal bulb holders get very hot to the touch. The bulbs are 35W halogen and are the ones that came with the light fitting.

Is this something to worry about?

Hard to say! & your wiring sounds correct. But most spot lights will get very hot & will take the skin off your fingers if touched after a short period of time.

Ok, thanks collectors. That's put my mind at rest somewhat.

Cheers.
