Hot pump, cold pipes

by peaksoft » Mon Dec 22, 2008 11:51 pm

I've just returned from checking an empty house, which has an old central heating system.

I switched on the boiler and the upstairs radiators warmed up, but the downstairs ones didn't.

The punp itself was hot, but the pipes to either side of it were both cold.

Could someone please diagnose the problem?

Try tapping the pump, or removeing the vent screw and turn the impeller.

If it doesn't go - you need a new pump.
