Hot water cylinder

by kathyp » Sat Feb 16, 2008 3:01 pm

Hi I hope someone can help me?

My hot water was constantly hot, so I contracted an electrician to change the thermostat on the hot water cylinder, but my water is still boiling hot and even when the HW is turned off at the time clock the HW valve keeps opening and closing and the only way to stop it is to turn the boiler off at the mains, does this mean that I need a new motorised valve?

Also the pump is hot, is this because the water is only feeding through it
each time the valve opens?

Just to let people know, the electrician came back and it had been wired in the wrong way round, so problem now solved :-)

if your hot water gets hot - when only central heating is on - then yes it could be a faulty motorised valve.

Do you have an immersion heater ?

hi
sounds to me like your motorised valve needs replacing.

do you get heating as well. also does the valve keep clicking on and off quickly.

the pump will get hot as its pumping hot water. this is normal

Hi Guy's,

Thank you so much for your advise, I called the electrician back and it had been wired in incorrectly. but thank you for coming back to me
