Hot Water Feed From Boiler to Supply Immersion Heater

by Quinny » Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:34 am

I have a de Dietrich Oil boiler, but it only has a small internal tank so when we have lots of people staying it struggles to provide enough water for baths etc. I also have a large 350 l electric hot water heater that heats the water directly (not via a separate loop). I can switch between the two via a gate valve.

Is there any reason that I can't use the hot water outlet from the boiler to feed the electric heater.

My thinking is if the boiler is on the water heater doesn't need to work so doesn't come on. If the boiler is off we have constant hot water.

The pressure on both is higher than the specification for the heater.
