Hot water Problem

by markhows » Wed Apr 18, 2007 10:48 pm

I have a Oil fired boiler Camray 5, the hot water in the tank does not get hot, but the pipe from the boiler to the tank does.

Three questions, why is the hot water from the boiler not going to the tank, to heat the hot water?

How can I find out if this system uses a pump or is gravity powered to cycle the hot water

Is there a thermostat on the tank of is the temperature controlled on the boiler thermostat?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark
If its a pumped system pump has failed, if not is there a 1 way valve thats sticking or installed the wrong way ,are you in a hard water area it could be excessive scale iv seen 3/4 pipes reduced to an1/8 by scale, stat failed if there 1 fitted
See scale reducers in the projects page or under plumbing .
Hope this of help to u
