hot water problems

by mart39 » Sun Sep 20, 2009 8:05 am

Hi, Just moved into a new house and it is about 9 years old, i have the boiler down in the kitchen with the h/w and c/h settings located below it, i currently have c/h off and h/w set to come on and off in the morning and again in the evening, once this comes on the boiler kicks in and obviously starts heating the water, but once this goes off i still hear some kind of noise from the upstairs as if something is still operating, on looking inside the airing cupboard i felt the hot water pipe and can feel slight vibration as if something is operating somewhere (this is the pipe that has a small white box attached to it) and the boiler keeps coming on every 5-10 mins even though no hot water is being used, hope that makes sense

Its probably the pump running on in order for the water to continue to circulate for a while after the boiler has shut down to even out the temperature in the system.

I can't see how it could possibly be the motorised valve.

Cheers
