Hot Water Running In To Cold Tank!!!

by shezza » Wed Mar 31, 2010 9:08 pm

Hi All, Today the overflow from the tank that supplies the hot water tank started to overflow.
On inspection I find that the water that is going into the cold tank is hot water coming in via a pipe at the top of the tank.
at the same time I have wanted to bleed the hot water tank (there is a pipe coming out of the side of the hot water tank and coming up the side with a bleed valve like on a radiator) but nothing comes out niether water or air which is what normally happens. Can someone help? are the two connected?

the pipe coming into the top of your cwsc is the vent pipe, when the water gets to hot it expands up this pipe and into the cwsc, so there will be a problem with your thermostat,

i am a a first year plumber so you may want to seek advice from a qualified plumber but im pretty sure that will be it

hope that helps
