Hot Water Tap has High Pressure but Cold Water Fine?

Hello everyone, I need some help.

I just moved into an apartment and I have a problem with my kitchen tap.

The cold water runs normally, but the hot water runs as a very narrow, hard stream, even though they both come from the same tap / faucet. The hot water, if left on, will slowly reduce in pressure before stopping completely.

I've attached two images of the tap to help make sense of it. Does anyone know what I can do to stop the hot water pouring out like a jet? it's really hard to wash anything without water going everywhere!

Thanks!
