hot water tap

hi everyone,
my hot water tap in the bathroom is playing up, when turned on nothing happens,when you lift tap top up water comes out ok? any answers

Isolate the hot supply and strip the tap, you'll probably find the tap washer or jumper has come off. Replace or re-assemble.

cheers for reply,called in plumber he said it needed new tap,@god knows what cost.thanks for use of forum.

hi,
just to let you know managed to fix tap,it was missing a small copper clip at top of barrel,it held it all together when you opened tap.so much for the plumber i called in.won't ever ask him back...
