Hot water taps shut off if not watched?

by cdk7474 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 2:30 pm

Please can anyone advise? We have a Potterton performa combi-boiler and when we turn the taps on for hot water they will stop giving hot water unless we stand there and keep turning them a bit as they try to turn off. This happens on all of the hot taps in the house. The boiler has recently had 2 diaphrams replaced but it has been doing this even before then. any suggestions please ?

This is not an uncommon phenomena and is caused by the rubber washer expanding as it is heated by the flowing hot water. Even my own taps here do that.

Thanks for that Bob, at least I know now that I'm not the only one who has this kind of thing happening.
