How can I drill 200mm deep holes in wooden shelves??

by keithk » Tue Jul 22, 2008 9:02 pm

I am working on some floating shelves following some advice on this site and have now drilled the holes and fixed 12mm studding via resin.

I am fitting 12" deep 40mm thick oak shelves so need to drill 200mm depths to go onto the studding.

Without specialised tools what is the best way of doing this??

I have a drill camp so was thinking of making up a flat base and 'pushing' the shelves agianst an auger bit.

As the holes need to be square I was wondering if there is a better way.

Any help much appreciated.
