Post by alyoung34 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:50 pm

Below is an extract for work on my roof. I have a leak coming down inside the cavity at the a bedroom and exits from the top of the mindow frame (inside). The other is a repair to the valley between my neighbours property and mine.

How good is this quote? £1200

A) Remove three (3) bottom courses of roof tiles and tile battens, at front and rear.
B) Supply and fit under tile roofing membrane full length / one sheet, full length of rear up and under original and dressed down into guttering, this should be set at between 25-30mm from internal base of guttering, fit new treated tile battens and re-fit roof tiles.
E) Supply and fit roof tiles as required, replacing those showing to be defective /broken.
C) Remove valley edge roof tiles and repair valley wall as required ensuring all debris removed, close up area.
D) Prepare and re-bed ridge roof tiles as required and re-point ridge roof tiles ensuring uniformity.
E) Remove all associated debris from site.

If you are not sure, get more quotes, 3 is usually good, but make sure they are quoting on the same work. Show the 2nd and 3rd the qoute but not the price, and go from there.
You cannot expect people who have not seen the problem to comment on a price no matter how accurate your description.
