We live in a cottage approx 270 years old. It does not have foundations is constructed of hand made bricks double thickness with no cavity and rendered. Our soil is sandy/clay. We have recently been flooded by surface water unable to soak away fast enough, it has seeped through our walls. We do have an ongoing problem with 'damp' walls and the plaster crumbling. In some places we have timber framed the wall and secondary plaster boarded it, but this is only cosmetic.
We need advice on how we can'creat' foundations, and indeed, if this is a solution, or what would you advise.
We live in a low lying area.
    Regards
    Sue
