how to fix to RSJ
Hi, I need to fix floor joists to a new RSJ type lintel running through the new floor joists, the closest size of lintel to the floor joist is 20mm shallower than the joists. Is it best to sit the joists inside the bottom lip of the RSJ or to fix timber to the beam and then use joist hangers. RSJ will have joists on both sides, thanks mike
mikeb123z,
If you have space to fit the rsj over the floor joists then use the bottom flange. If you are fitting the rsj into a space between joists the you will have to fill both sides of the gap, fit the rsj and use joist hangers. end
