How to prepare kitchen walls to be painted with grease and stain resistant paint

I have had a kitchen extension built and the plaster was finished approx 6 weeks ago. I am looking to paint the walls with Dulux kitchen grease and stain resistant paint. How do I prepare the walls first and does this paint actually work
