How to Remove Glued on Door Handle Escutchions?

by SHRIMP » Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:16 pm

I AM HOPING TO REPLACE MY KITCHEN UNIT HANDLES TO REFRESH UNITS. THE PRESENT DOOR HANDLES ARE A BRASS ESCUTCHION WITH A CENTRE SCREW HOLE FOR THE KNOB. A SMALL HOLE IN EITHER END OF ESCUTCHION TAKES A PANEL PIN. ON REMOVING KNOB I FIND THE ESCUTHIONS HAVE BEEN GLUED TO THE DOORS! I CAN GET A SMALL FLAT HEADED SCREWDRIVER BEHIND IN PLACES, BUT DON'T WANT TO PRIZE OFF AS I DON'T WANT TO DAMAGE THE DOORS. ANY IDEAS HOW TO REMOVE WITHOUT DAMAGE?

nail varnish remover may do it at the risk of damageing door surface as it is acetone.
