how to turn loft recess/eves into storage

    Postby oxana » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:46 pm

Hi. has anyone tried to get recess/eves in the loft room turn into storage? I guess things like that should be done when converting the loft but we bought the house from the builders and they never done it. it would be good to have some storage space in the room/house  and my question is:

would it be possible to have it done myself or do I need to hire someone professional to do it? if possible to do myself - how is it done?

    thanks very much :)

Lots of people have converted their lofts and provided strategically placed doors to access parts of their loft.
It can be very instructive to open a hole and see whats behind it and how badly the work was done.
Just fix some 9mm ply over the joists to kneel on and to support whatever you intend to store.
Also check on the amount of insulation behind the plasterboard, check there is some and that it is complete, no holes and that there is at least 5 inches of polystyrene or similar.
